Have you ever been the recipient of a Random Act of Kindness (RAOK)??
Maybe someone stopped and let you make a turn in traffic, or helped you with your packages at the store. Simple things like these can really make your day.
When I was at the grocery store this weekend, I was talking to the cashier and the bagger (young men in HS) and we were joking about coupons. I always lose my coupons or leave them home on the table, so almost never have any to cash in.
A women walking by offered me a coupon, and I said thank you, figuring it was 50¢ or 75¢ off an item. I looked at the coupon and it was $2.50 off your total purchase.
I quickly said to the woman, that she should keep the coupon and use it next time she was in the store. She just smiled and insisted that I keep it and use it that day. I thanked her again profusely and she was on her way.
Now I know that $2.50 is not a huge sum of money, and I certainly could afford my purchases.
BUT this RAOK really warmed my heart and made me smile the entire day. I am smiling again as I type this. And I am sure that the woman who gave it to me was feeling the same warm, happiness that I was.
So, why don't we all try to do one RAOK this week for someone we don't know? Not only will you make someone's day, but you will make your own day as well.
Happy Monday and Happy Week!
PS: Until I get used to my new school schedule I am going to be a bit behind in my blog readings/comments I will get caught up soon!!
What a lovely thing that woman did.

The idea is so sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a very nice thing that was done for you. I have given away coupons to another person in a store, but I must admit I gave them away as I knew I'd not be using them and didn't want them to go to waste. The lady who gave that to you surely could have used that on her next trip (as you pointed out) but....instead...she gave it to you. How kind of her!!!
ReplyDeleteThat lady giving you her coupon was such a sweet act. It always makes me feel good to do nice things for others, and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way. In honor of your RAOK week, I will be even more aware of how I am treating those around me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Sheila!

Wonderful post and thank you for sharing!! I try to practice RAOK whenever I can because you just never know when that one moment that seems so little to you could really turn around someone elses! Yay you!!
ReplyDeleteCool story! and adorable picture of the monkey and the kitten :-) I love animals!
ReplyDeleteHope the school job gets off to a great start.
So cool!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet story, it's so nice to hear it. Does passing on your Joann's coupon count? LOL My friend once told me a nice RAK story. She was in the grocery store and when she went to pay her bill the clerk said the man ahead of her already paid for it. He was gone so she couldn't thank him. She said, it wasn't much around $10.00, but it was a nice surprise. The clerk told her the man did this quite frequently.
ReplyDeleteHow great! Yes, it's always nice to give and to receive. There are so many little things we can do to make someone's day as are there so many little things that can truly make our day.
ReplyDeleteTake all the time you need to adjust to your new schedule. Just so happy for you!
