"Think you can't change the world? Too late, you already have. It was changed for the better the minute you were born. There are more people than you can imagine who will never be the same because they came in contact with you, if only for a fleeting moment." ~Gail Purcell

Words of Inspiration

During my divorce (6 years ago already!) I went through a very blue period. One way I found to help me focus on positive thoughts and thinking was to put up inspirational signs throughout my home. In this way I was visually reminding myself that things were okay, and that I was okay.

These signs are still in my home now, in spots where I can look and reflect on them daily. I think we all need reminders of our strength and courage.

This was the first sign I found and put up:

(Yes, there were many days that I had to remind myself to breathe!)

I put this poster up in my bedroom so I could see it everyday when I woke up.

Peace: My path is one of harmony and tranquility
A reminder of the strength within

Words to live by

Make the best of each day

And the latest addition to my inspirational art
to reflect my letting go of the past and
opening my heart to new horizons:

"As she grew older, she cleared out more clutter
and made room for matters of the heart"

Now I just have to get the right frame for it and decide where to hang it!

How about you? Do you have any visual inspirations in your home that empower you?

  1. On my fridge I have one that says..."Bloom where you are planted.....being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you can see beyond the imperfections." I think I have reached that stage of my life....where I know it's no use trying to make things PERFECT!!!

  2. I have many, but one of my favorites is, "Rise above the storm and you will find sunshine" by Mario Fernandez.

Sorry to hear about your divorce. They are no fun. I remember years ago(mine was in 1990)I was having a bad day. My mom looked at her "once sweet daughter" and asked what my problem was!! I looked back in shocked and stated, I don't know, maybe I'm going through a divorce and feel like I'm losing my mind.

Things got better, and now look at you. Your sharing all your sweetness with all your blogging buddies. Thanks Sheila.

    Blessings,

  3. In my classroom I have a plaque made by the "Potter's Shed"--"Blessed are the Flexible For They Shall Not Be Bent Out of Shape." It is the same small town Pottery Shop that made your "Live a Life of Love" plaque.

  4. Lovely inspirational quotes. Being down the same road as you with the big 'D', many of days words of wisdom silently pulled me through!

My favourite was one I saw years ago that read, ' a mother will hold your hand to grow, but hold your heart forever'

  5. I really need your first sign about breathing! When I'm stressed out, I forget to breathe!

  6. Love your site! The signs are a great idea. One of my favorites is Life isn't the number of breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away!
