"Think you can't change the world? Too late, you already have. It was changed for the better the minute you were born. There are more people than you can imagine who will never be the same because they came in contact with you, if only for a fleeting moment." ~Gail Purcell

Just have to remind myself to BREATHE!

  1. If I was able to do it---anyone can do it. I went back to grad school when I was 46 to earn my masters in Special Education. When I look back now--I don't see how I did it with everything else in my life. You can do it!!!!!

  4. I went back to school when my youngest was 4 months old. Thanks to a supportive husband I was able to finish in four years (yes, it was a two year graduate program, but when I started I told them my plan). People would say things like "Why are you doing this?" "Aren't you a little....well, old for college?" I told them, I may be near fourty when I graduate, but I will be fourty anyway! It gave me something to work for and I am SO GLAD I did it. It was worth every minute.

On the other hand, the other day I was making a dress for my niece and having such a good time. "Why didn't I sew more when Daughter was young?" I wondered aloud. "Deanna, you were in school" pointed out my husband with exaggerated patience. "Oh, yeah...." There will be things that go by the wayside, but this is WORTH IT!

Pace yourself. Hang on. Remember your goal.

  12. I hope you'll enjoy this journey. I went to grad school right after undergrad. In some ways I feel I would do better now that I am a bit older...but I am not sure I'd be able to pull all those overnighters like I did back then!

    Best wishes to you!
