"Think you can't change the world? Too late, you already have. It was changed for the better the minute you were born. There are more people than you can imagine who will never be the same because they came in contact with you, if only for a fleeting moment." ~Gail Purcell

Thoughts to Ponder

If you weren't expected to be to work on time, would  you be there with time to  spare anyway?

If you didn't have a family to support/bills to pay/debt would you even show up to work at all?

If you weren't responsible for anyone, would you even bother to get out of bed?

Expectations.....

They shape our response to the world around us.

From Kids Source:
"The expectations teachers have for their students and the assumptions they make about their potential have a tangible effect on student achievement. Research clearly establishes that teacher expectations do play a significant role in determining how well and how much students learn.

Students tend to internalize the beliefs teachers have about their ability. Generally, they rise or fall to the level of expectation of their teachers.

                        OR????

When teachers believe in students, students believe in themselves. When those you respect think you can,
YOU think you can.

Conversely, when students are viewed as lacking in ability or motivation and are not expected to make significant progress, they tend to adopt this perception of themselves.

Teachers' expectations for students, whether high or low, can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

That is, students tend to give to teachers as much or as little as teachers expect of them."

How will YOUR expectations and attitude
affect those around YOU today?

"Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great."   ~ Mark Twain

  1. What you say in this post is SO true! I wish more teachers would realize that. (I'm a retired teacher.) So many kids are just "written off" and they COULD accomplish a lot more if more people believed in them. ALL kids can learn...some just learn differently and need people to take the time to find out how they learn best...and to encourage them along the way.
