"Think you can't change the world? Too late, you already have. It was changed for the better the minute you were born. There are more people than you can imagine who will never be the same because they came in contact with you, if only for a fleeting moment." ~Gail Purcell

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Come join in the fun with Amy's Creative Side and the 2010 Bloggers Quilt Festival.

My entry for this year is my Schnibbles Scratch quilt.

This was my first attempt at a "schnibbles quilt" and I had so much fun making this.I just love the Moda Swanky fabrics; they look so bright and cheery in the  quilt.
I am still working on my quilting, and I highlighted this quilt with straight line quilting. Very simple, but I am not ready for the more challenging quilting designs yet.

Thanks for popping in to see my entry and now go visit Amy and see the other great quilts!

OMG!! It's My Anniversary!

wOw! Time sure flies when you are having fun!

It was one year ago that I first tentatively dipped my toe into the blogging world.
I never dreamed it would be so much fun or that I would meet SO many wonderful people.

Thank you all for an amazing year! I hope you will join me in the upcoming year for more sewing, creating, pondering, whiskers, and friendship. I can't promise the journey will always be exciting, but it will always be covered with some cat hair!

Thursday Thoughts

Thank you for all the well-wishes! I miss catching up with everyone!

I want to share this with you, it is available for free down load on Kind Over Matter

This really struck a cord with me.... especially since my word for this year has been "FORGIVE"....

If I were to live these thoughts every day, it would be easier for me to forgive. Because I would begin to forget my own pain and think of the pain of the other. I am not saying it is easy (and I am a stubborn one). But this is a great way to see things..... don't you agree?

(I have been going to bed early, eating lots of soup and thinking good thoughts!! Thank you my friends!)

"A small trouble is like a pebble. Hold it too close to your eye and it fills the whole world and puts everything out of focus. Hold it at a proper distance and it can be examined and properly classified. Throw it at your feet and it can be seen in its true setting, just one more tiny bump on the pathway of life." - Celia Luce

The Gum Tree Designers are again sharing their talents and offering some amazing (and free) designs for the holidays. They will also be sharing their favorite recipes! YUM!

And Ellie from Ellie's Quiltplace is the first blog in the Stitching for Christmas party! There will be 9 beautiful patterns to stitch for your Christmas Quilt. The first one (a snow man angel) is adorable! I can't wait to see the rest.

Makes Me Happy Monday 10/4

Inspirational words make me happy........

The Beauty of a Women
Maya Angelou
The beauty of a woman
isn’t in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries,
or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman
must be seen from in her eyes;
Because that’s the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman
isn’t in a facial mole;
But true beauty in a woman,
is reflected by her soul.
It’s the caring that she cares to give,
the passion that she shows;
And the beauty of a woman
with passing years only grows.

The Dream Keeper
Langston Hughes

Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamer,
Bring me all your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.

Education
Edgar A Guest

I think that I would rather teach a child
The joys of kindness than long hours to spend
Poring o’er multiple and dividend;
How differing natures may be reconciled
Rather than just how cost accounts are filed;
How to live bravely to its end
Rather than how one fortress to defend,
Or how gold coins once gathered can be piled.
There is an education of the mind
Which all require and parents early start,
But there is training of a nobler kind
And that’s the education of the heart.
Lessons that are most difficult to give
Are faith and courage and the way to live.
