Schnibbles Times Two

I finished my Schnibbles Scratch quilt for
Kelly's Schnibbles Times Two Contest.!
but be sure to head over to her blog so you can see the show and VOTE!

Just did some basic straight line quilting. (My tension on the back threads got messed up somehow, didn't realize it till I was done.... sigh)

For the binding I used some of the left overs from the Swanky fabric.
So, I have a finish this month for my OPAM challenge as well!

Don't have a pet?
Just show off a quilt made with pet fabric and win a prize.
Don't quilt or have pets??

What I Wonder..... Wednesday

I have been having some weird dreams lately. I have had a lot on my mind so I guess that explains it, but they are weird. Sometimes when I wake up, the dreams have been SO vivid that I second guess myself if they really happened. Does that ever happen to you?

I also have some recurring "places" in my dreams. Real places from my life, only they don't look like they do in real life. You know what I mean? It is so strange because they are usually the same from dream to dream.

My subconscious obviously has some things it needs to work on because it has been working over time.

I often wonder what my dreams mean...... would be SO much easier if my subconscious would just come right out and say what is on its mind instead of speaking in metaphors and symbolism!

In my dream last night I was having a very heated argument. The dream dictionary has this to say:

Argument
To argue with someone that you know within a dream, maybe a subconscious expression of a will to argue with a person that you would not readily argue with in real life. In prophetic dreams an argument can also be considered a warning against impulsive decisions and a very clear warning to think before you act.

In the dream I was also on a big boat  that belonged to a friend of mine. We were on on a huge lake that was very crowded with boats.
Boat
To dream that you are in or see a boat, signifies your ability to cope with and express your emotions. Pay particular attention to the condition and state of the waters, whether it is calm or violent, clear or murky, etc. Are you "smooth sailing"? Alternatively, you may be ready to confront your unconscious and unknown aspects of yourself

We took the boat to go shopping at a hardware store (of all things) to buy some pipes and fittings.

To dream that you are shopping, symbolizes your needs and desires. It also represents opportunities and options that you come across in life. Consider what you are shopping for and what needs you are try to fulfill.
Hardware Store
To dream that you are at the hardware store, indicates that you need to make some self-improvements in your life. You need to adjust your attitudes.
Pipe
To see a water pipe in your dream, indicates that you are open and receptive to new ideas. It may also represent your connections to those around you. You are able to steer something toward an direction.

So that was my crazy dream last night!!
And I will probably have another one tonight!!
How are you sleeping??

Dreaming permits each and everyone of us to be
quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

Makes Me Happy Monday 7/26

What makes me happy today??
Just having a lazy summer day!! Hope you get to enjoy a
couple of lazy days too!

One relaxing hobby most of us have tried is Origami. I watched this video from Netflix:
Independent Lens: Between the Folds: Exploring Origami

It was worth watching, just to see the AMAZING detail
that these artists achieved using
ONE piece of paper!

This website has great pictures

Robert Lang was one of the artists featured. His website is HERE to check it out.

Enjoy the amazing art!

More Progress

Got the center of The Between Charming Friends quilt together today. This has been a challenging quilt for me. Lots of pieces in these blocks, and I was quite pleasantly surprised that most of the blocks came out the same size!! I was able to match most seams, although I had to do some easing here and there.

AND I just measured my quilt down the center, 27 1/2", which is what Kelly got when she measured hers in the tutorial! That is amazing for me..... I may get my blocks the same size, but not always the size they are "supposed" to be! heheheh

One issue I do have is those darn triangles!! The little end ones seem to be too small!! (look at lower right corner) I guess I have to take them off and cut new ones???

Now to get working on the pieced border.

PS If you want to see a great thriller that will keep you guessing right up to the end, go see "Inception" with Leonardo DiCaprio. My son and I went to see this and it was GREAT!!! Don't find out too much about it before hand either.... just go along for the fun ride!

Friday Night Sewing

Tonight is the Friday night sew in with Heidi  And I finally got to sit down at my sewing machine tonite.....

Borders and corner blocks on my schnibbles Scratch

Between Charming Friends Quilt Along
Better late than never, getting some sewing on this done

I have most of the 16-square blocks done

I am snacking on some pretzels because they are not messy around fabric.... my Diet Coke is on the floor out of the way!!
Fabrics used here are Moda Wee Play and Friends and Flowers charm packs. I didn't have two of the same and these seemed to go together well.
So working toward my Charming Goals and having some fun at the machine for the first time all week. It is actually a bit cooler tonight too which is a big help.

PS...Later......
Got the blocks done..... triangles tomorrow!

Looking good, mom!

I am looking forward to getting out and forgetting about my worries and stress for a couple of hours.... then home again to work on my homework. I have a presentation due next Monday and then an electronic portfolio due the following week....busy, busy!! But at least I know I am breathing!

Have a great week, my friends!!

My Helper

I know he is just trying to help me with my homework,
but I really don't need help with my procrastination!!
(especially since I would rather be sewing)

I am a Charming Girl!

I decided to join the Charming Friends when they started their new year of challenges.

The theme for this challenge is Self Care

This challenge is very important to me, because I don't take very good care of myself. When my kids were young I kind of had an excuse because I was busy taking care of them. But now that my nest is empty I should have more time to devote to self care. Somehow, I always end up neglecting this!

My self care goals are:
#1 TO GET MORE SLEEP . I stay up way too late, and on days when I am off, I take a nap. On days when I am working, I don't get to take a nap, but I still stay up way too late. I need to get into a healthy sleeping routine.

#2 Spend more time with friends. I have been playing hermit again and I need to make myself go out and have some fun at least once a week.

My other goals:

#1. Finish all my homework for my grad class
#2 Finish and quilt Schnibbles Scratch for contest
#3 Finish (flimsy) Charming Quilt along quilt
#4 Keep up with Jelly Roll quilt along

I think that is enough to keep me busy??? I just hope the heat abates a bit... it kills any ambition that I have!

So stay tuned my friends, and see how I do with my goals!!

Fluffy Friday

The cats have been suffering a bit in this heat too....

This is Jinx trying to cool off her belly.
(AKA My Little Jinx Girl)..... she was a feral kitty when I adopted her and now she is as sweet as pie. She LOOKS really big, but she has the fluffiest fur I have ever seen. She also has a little head and petite little feet so her fluffiness looks even bigger!

She was sound asleep so I was able to sneak up on her. She didn't look at me until I said her name..... The cats love to sleep on this plant table. They love it so much that I barely have any plants left as they have knocked them over more times than I can count. (notice the plant soil on the window sill) sigh

ZZzzzzzzzz.........

Snore...........drool........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What?? Well, YES, I'm awake  NOW!!

Tuesday Thoughts to Ponder 7/13

You must read this thoughtful poem on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico :
